Storm, Eagles battle for top of Packerland baseball standings

The battle for the top of the Packerland baseball table occurs in Kewaunee on Monday when Southern Door makes the trip to battle the Storm.

The Storm has won three of their last four games, including Saturday's 7-4 victory against Gibraltar at Fox Cities Stadium. The Vikings opened the scoring in the first inning when Rylan Caldecott took advantage of a wild pitch to make it 1-0. The Storm answered when Mitchel Thompson's single drove in Payton Kohnle. After the Vikings went 1-2-3 in their half of the second inning, the Storm batted around against Bennett Isaacson with Caleb Schaller, Collin Spranger, Kohnle, Owen Carlson, and Cal Ihlenfeldt recording hits. The Storm's Waylon Delain ended any hope of a threat in the seventh inning, striking out the side to end the game.

The Eagles ran their winning streak to nine with a doubleheader sweep of Winneconne on Saturday. A 3-2 loss to St. Mary Catholic on April 22nd remains the lone blemish on the Eagle's record this season, having gone a perfect 10-0 so far in the Packerland Conference.

The doubleheader is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
