Kewaunee storms past Gibraltar on softball diamond

The Kewaunee softball team needed less than four innings in either game to dismantle Gibraltar by scores of 22-1 and 16-0 on Tuesday afternoon.

The Storm batted around twice in the first inning, scoring 15 runs as the Vikings pitchers struggled with control for a second straight game. Emily Todd, Braelyn Chevalier, Morton Bootz, Vivian Bootz, and Baleigh Saxby all knocked in runs with singles en route as a part of a 14-hit day. Breanna Riha and Saxby each drove in two runs on the day. Riha allowed one run on no hits with Pam Prescott driving in the only run on an RBI fielder's choice.

In game two, the Storm scored 10 runs in the second and four more in the third to end the game short. All but one starter registered at least one hit and scored at least one run in the game. Todd was perfect at the plate, going 3-3 with three runs scored and four more driven in. Chevalier went 2-3 but also drove in four runs as both homered in the game. Hanrahan earned the win with just two hits allowed and three strikeouts across two innings of work. Abby Jarosh and Megan Gallant collected the only hits on the day for the Vikings in the second game.
