Kewaunee baseball heads north to face Gibraltar

The Kewaunee Storm brings an eight-game winning streak with them to Fish Creek on Tuesday when they play Gibraltar in a doubleheader.

 

The Storm swept a doubleheader from Algoma last Tuesday by scores of 14-0 and 13-3. In game one, Payton Kohnle and Cal Ihlenfeldt each drove in five runs, combining to go 7-for-8 with two home runs. Ihlenfeldt did not need the offense, as he pitched four innings, allowing just one hit while striking out six Wolves. In game two, The Storm trailed by one until the fourth inning when they scored eight runs in the frame and followed it up with five more runs in the fifth inning. Mitchell Thompson went 2-4 with three RBI while Ihlenfeldt went 1-3 with two RBI. Four others drove in at least one run.

 

The Gibraltar Vikings baseball team scored 10 runs across their final two frames to run away from Hilbert 13-3 in seven innings. Freshman phenom Aaron Brey led the Vikings offensively with three hits and four RBI on the afternoon.  Bennett Isaacson and Aiden Purinton each added two hits while seven players had at least one RBI. Pitching-wise, it was a bullpen day with six different pitchers throwing no more than 1 2/3 innings. The staff allowed just one earned run and four hits while garnering nine strikeouts.
