Kewaunee Wins with Fashion at Luxemburg-Casco

Kewaunee opened their season with a win tonight as they played their cross-county rival, Luxemburg-Casco. The Storm emerged victorious 67-51. Junior guard Thomas Stangel led Kewaunee. Stangel had 21 points and was able to lead this team's offense. Other key offensive players were Cal Ihlenfeldt who had 18 points and Sawyer Pribek who had 12.

The Storm did not show that they lost most of their key players from last season. The team will be impacted by many members of last season's undefeated JV team. Junior Christopher Cullen went 2 for 2 from three in the contest and gave head coach Luke Neitzel high-quality minutes. Another young addition to the team is sophomore forward Jackson Wisnicky. Wisnicky provided high-quality defense under the team's full-court pressure and had 3 points of his own.

Luxemburg-Casco was led by junior forward Lance Cherovsky. Cherovsky led the team in points with 12. Luxemburg struggled to get through Kewaunee’s full-court pressure and struggled with turnovers. These turnovers led to many fast break layups for the Storm. Caleb Blohowiak also had 4 points.

Kewaunee visits Jeremy Lorenz and the Brillion Lions on Tuesday, November 29.
