Kewaunee travels to Southern Door for Packerland battle

The Kewaunee Storm have not been tested by any teams so far this season in conference play, but will get their biggest one this Friday as they take a trip to Brussels to take on the Southern Door Eagles.

Kewaunee (7-0 Overall, 5-0 Packerland), ran all over the Sturgeon Bay Clippers last week, as they were able to go to Memorial Stadium and come back with a 55-14 win. The Storm’s offense was led by the legs of Owen Carlson and Mitchell Thompson. Thompson and Carlson both ran for two touchdowns each, and put the game out of reach of the Clippers early. Kewaunee has scored 40 points in each of their Packerland conference games and have been bulldozing through teams. The Storm have also played their fair share of defense as well, led by Brayden Obry and Demardo Echols. Kewaunee has outscored their Packerland conference opponents 249-48 so far this season.

Southern Door (7-0 Overall, 5-0 Packerland), comes into this game off of another shutout, this time on the road as they took down the Oconto Blue Devils 35-0. The Eagles starting defense has only allowed 6 points this entire season, which came against the Mishicot Indians when Logan Marquardt was able to connect with Adam Backus for a 20 yard touchdown. Southern Door has outscored its packerland conference opponents by a score of 157-12 so far. The defense has led this team, but so has its running game, led by Junior Zack Lynch. Lynch has put up 840 yards and 13 touchdowns this year, which has complimented Sophomore Quarterback Drew Daoust well, who has thrown for 793 yards and 11 touchdowns. The Eagles have not faced a test like the Storm however, and will look to get past the two blowout losses of 33-0 and 39-0 last season early.

We will see what happens when the immovable object of the Southern Door Eagles defense meets the unstoppable force of the Kewaunee Storm’s offense. The battle in Brussels will be set up for a good one. The kickoff is set for 7:00 P.M.
