Kewaunee Storm football falls 13-7 to Arcadia on 102.1 MORE FM

The Kewaunee lost a defensive battle on Friday night as they fell to the Arcadia Raiders 13-7 in Spring Football on 102.1 More FM and NEW Radio Sports Network.  The Storm had to travel four hours to Arcadia High School and had a sluggish start to the game.  Arcadia scored with 3:44 left in the first quarter on a 30yard touchdown strike from Caden Updiike to Evan Pauly.  Kewaunee was able to mount a drive in the second quarter, but on fourth and goal at the seven-yard line quarterback Mitchell Thompson threw an interception that was returned 93 yards by Updike for a pick-six.  Arcadia took the 13-0 lead into halftime.

After a scoreless third quarter, Kewaunee was able to get back in the game after a big interception and return by Alex Rohr gave the Storm great field position with less than six minutes to go in the game.

Kewaunee cashed in on a 30-yard pass from Thompson to Anthony Jerabek to close the game to 13-7 with 5:23 left in the fourth quarter.

The Storm’s defense was able to stop the Raiders with three minutes left, but Kewaunee was unable to convert on fourth down and Arcadia was able to run out the clock to claim the hard-fought victory.

Kewaunee (2-2) will now play the Menasha Blue Jays at Menasha High School next Friday night.  Pregame is set for 6:30 pm with kick-off set for 7 pm.  Matt Piesler and Paul Schmitt will have the call on 102.1 MORE FM and streamed on NEW Radio Sports Network.
