Though they didn’t end the game on top, Kewaunee came sprinting out of the gate in Friday’s matchup against Notre Dame Academy in Green Bay. The Storm took the opening play from scrimmage fifty-five yards on a touchdown pass from Mitchell Thompson to Alex Rohr. Just five plays later Anthony Jerabeck would pick off a Sam Lagowski pass and Kewaunee would take over in good field position. On a fourth and one, Jack Severin would find a crease on a dive and take it forty-one yards to the house. Within their first five offensive plays, the Storm would hold a 14-0 lead. With a chance to go up three scores, Kewaunee would have their lone turnover, when Notre Dame’s Keegan King would jump a slant to intercept a Mitchell Thompson pass. 

Notre Dame would eventually get on the board on a four yard TD run from Will Zellner, which would be the first of his three. Before the halftime whistle Zellner would find the endzone again and after a blocked PAT, Kewaunee would go into halftime up 14-13. Neither team would score in the third quarter. Zellner would score on a twenty-three yard TD run in the fourth quarter with over eight minutes to go. The score was set up by excellent field position after a Keegan King blocked a Kewaunee punt. After a failed two point try, Notre Dame would have their first lead, 20-19. 

The Storm would surge back the next possession, taking over five minutes off the clock. The drive would be capped off by Alex Rohr’s second touchdown reception of the evening with 3:09 left to go. The Storm would go up 20-19. They would not convert the two point conversion, which proved costly. Notre Dame would methodically move the ball down the field and with eleven seconds left Aiden Wolfram would connect on a thirty-nine yard field goal. Notre Dame would win the game 22-20 and Kewaunee’s record would drop to 2-1.
