Kewaunee Storm rolled to an easy 43-6 victory over the Menominee Indian Eagles in Spring Football season on 102.1 More FM and NEW Radio Sports Network. The game was played at Nathan Calder Field in Menasha.
After a slow start, the Storm defense scored a touchdown late in the first quarter on a 19-yard fumble recovery by Jack Severin.
Kewaunee then exploded with 30 points in the second quarter. First, Mitchell Thompson connected with Alex Rohr on a 39-yard touchdown strike. Then Severin scored on a four-yard run to make the score 20-0. After a safety caused by a bad Eagle snap from center, the Storm scored again on a 21-yard run by Severin to go up 28-0. With just four seconds left in the half, Thompson hit Rohr for an 18-yard score to give Kewaunee a commanding 36-0 lead at halftime.
Severin capped of the Storm’s scoring in the second half and his big game with a 54-yard touchdown run.
Menominee Indian scored late with 5:31 left in the game facing the Storm’s second-stringers.
Kewaunee’s defense dominated the Eagles by forcing four fumbles and one interception.
Kewaunee (2-0) will now play the Notre Dame Tritons in Green Bay next Friday night. Pregame is set for 6:30 pm with kick-off set for 7 pm. Matt Piesler and Paul Schmitt will have the call on 102.1 MORE FM and streamed on NEW Radio Sports Network.
