Storm girls edge Blue Devils

The Kewaunee Storm girls basketball team had to fend off an Oconto Blue Devils comeback Monday night as they held on to win 45-44.

The Storm carried a four-point lead into the second half and nearly saw it evaporate. Aiding the Blue Devils was drawing fouls as the Storm was called for 19 in the game. Luckily for the Storm, the Blue Devils struggled from the free-throw line as they hit only 12 of their 22 attempts. Lianna Baxter had a game-high 22 points, but the Storm's defense was able to hold all other Blue Devils players to seven points or less. Leading the way for the Storm was Toni Bortoloni and Claire Kohnle, who 16 and 13 points in the game.

The Storm will next try to knock off Peshtigo when they travel northwest on Friday for the 7:30 p.m. tip.
