Kewaunee slipped to Menasha in season opener

The Kewaunee Storm girls’ basketball team could not find enough juice on Monday night, falling to the Menasha Bluejays in their season opener, 43-41. Though the matchup did not dictate any conference implications, it would’ve been nice for the Storm to collect a season opening win. Kewaunee felt good out of the gates by outscoring the Bluejays by three points in the first half but Menasha’s Mara Rieder did not let the lead prevail as she carried her team back to a victory in the second half. Kewaunee allowed 27 points in the second half and were led by Toni Bortolini and Taylor Schleis with 12 points a piece. The Storm will look to rebound with a victory on Friday when they head to NEW Lutheran for a 7:30pm game.
