Kewaunee High School

DKHS.com's Champion of Champions: 2010 Kewaunee Football

After being the bridesmaid in four state title games, Kewaunee finally prevailed in 2010.

The Storm played at Camp Randall in 2001, 2006, 2007, and 2009 only to fall in the season's final game. In each one of those years, the Storm entered the game undefeated. They were able to hold onto their perfect season in 2010, beating Brodhead/Juda 42-13 under the leadership of Kurt Flaten. Kewaunee set title game records with four interceptions by the team, and three interceptions individually by Jordan Schmidt. The Storm had 11 players on the Packerland-Olympian All-Conference team, lead by Doug Delebreau (2332 yards passing), Craig Christman (1937 yards rushing), and Schmidt (831 yards receiving). Those three players led the conference in passing, rushing, and receiving respectively. The offense rolled all season, averaging almost 40 points a game, but their defense was not a slouch either, pitching five shut-outs during the course of the season. Beating their two peninsula rivals in Sturgeon Bay and Southern Door by a combined score of 105-10, the Storm beat Winneconne, Wautoma, Roncalli, Baldwin-Woodville, and Brodhead/Juda in the playoffs to claim their first only state title in football.
