The # 2 seeded Kewaunee Storm pulled out a 36-35 thriller on Friday night against the # 7 seeded Omro Foxes in a Division 5 Level 1 football playoff in Kewaunee.  Kewaunee senior quarterback Ryan Carmichael scored on a two-point conversion with :28 seconds left in the game to carry the Storm to victory.

Omro capitalized on Kewaunee mistakes in the first half to take a 13-0 lead, but the Storm scored on a 1-yard pass from Carmichael to Owen Kudick with :16 seconds left to gain momentum going into intermission.

The second half saw Kewaunee take their first lead in the game on an 8 yard run by Kudick to take a 14-13 lead with 6:34 left in the third quarter.  That set up one of the most exciting and high scoring 4th quarters ever which saw three touchdowns scored in just :30 seconds.

With 8:36 left in the game, Omro scored on a two-yard run which was followed by a Kewaunee  61 yard touchdown run by Carmichael.  The Foxes answered with 8:06 left in the game on a 59-yard touchdown pass completion to take a 28-21 lead.  Kewaunee then tied up the game with just over five minutes left on Carmichaels' second TD run from 15 yards.  Omro answered with a five-yard run by quarterback Ben Wellhoefer to make it 35-28 with 3:17 left. The Storm then drove down for the final score on a nine-yard pass from Carmichael to Owen Kudick.  Coach Randy Charles of Kewaunee then gambled and went for a two-point conversion.  Carmichael came through for the Storm by rolling out on a quarterback option and stretching the ball over the goal line to give Kewaunee the decisive 36-35 final.

Carmichael finished unofficially 21-28 passing for 268 yards with two touchdowns while rushing for 101 yards on 11 carries and two TDs.
