Vikings come up short against Redmen on 105.1 The GOAT

For the third consecutive season, the Gibraltar/Washington Island baseball team saw its season come to a close in the sectional semifinal, this time in a 7-4 defeat to top-seeded Rib Lake.

The Redmen took an early 2-0 lead in the third inning when they scored on a sacrifice fly and a balk. The Vikings retaliated with one in the fourth and took the lead in the fifth inning when Cam Munao and Hobbs Emerson each singled in runs. The Redmen had their response in each of the next two innings, scoring three times in the fifth inning and two more times in the sixth to build up a 7-3 lead. The Vikings scratched across one run in the seventh on a fielder's choice hit into by Charlie Reinhardt and had the game-tying run at the plate before the game ended in a groundout.

Luke Rericha ended his Vikings career on a high note, going 3-4 with a double. Mason Grooms went 2-3 with an RBI while Munao, Emerson and Reinhardt also posted RBI.

The Vikings say goodbye to Cam Munao, Aaron Brey, Owen Dannhausen, Luke Rericha, Kuper Tesnow, and David Olson due to graduation as the team finished with a 20-7 mark.
