The Gibraltar/Washington Island softball team hosts its first home tournament game in a decade on Tuesday when it welcomes to Marion in the WIAA Regional Semifinal.
The Vikings concluded its regular season with a 7-6 loss to Reedsville. Emilie Glocke was dominant in the circle, striking out 12 over five and two-thirds innings, but eight walks and six Reedsville stolen bases created too much damage. The Panthers put up five in the fourth to build a 7-1 lead and Gibraltar couldn't quite complete the comeback, scoring five late runs on a walk, a fielder's choice, a ground out, and a single before the rally fell short. Gabi Solomon, Glocke, Cleleste Ashley, and Mia Glocke each had a hit and drove in a run. The Vikings have won five games in the month of May, giving softball manager Brandon Schmidt a strong dose of optimism heading into Tuesday's game.

The Mustangs finished their season with a strong 8-5-1 mark, including a four-game winning streak that saw them average 17 runs per game.
