Gibraltar baseball keeps momentum building with seventh straight

The Gibraltar Vikings took care of business Tuesday, sweeping Sevastopol in a doubleheader and holding the Pioneers to just four combined runs on the day. Gibraltar improves to 16-6 and extends their winning streak to seven games while Sevastopol drops to 8-10.

Game one was a pitchers' duel. Aaron Brey was flat out dealing, tossing all seven innings and striking out 11 while allowing just two hits and no runs. Sevastopol actually out-hit Gibraltar five to two and Andrew Wiesner punched out 11 of his own, but Brey was the difference. Gibraltar's four stolen bases and Brey's two RBIs on two hits were enough to pull out the 2-0 win.

Game two wasn't as close. Gibraltar jumped on Sevastopol early and rolled to a 10-2 win behind Hobbs Emerson, who went five and a third innings and struck out six. Miles Richmond closed it out with nearly two hitless innings of relief. Cam Munao and Mason Isaacson each went 2-for-2 at the plate, and Brey, Wyatt Bultman, and Owen Dannhausen each drove in two runs. Gibraltar drew eight walks and didn't commit an error all game.

Connor Mueller had two of Sevastopol's three hits in game two, and the Pioneers drew seven walks but couldn't capitalize when it counted.
