After earning one of their first home tournament games in school history, the Gibraltar/Washington Island softball team will take the field on Tuesday to battle Reedsville.
The Vikings have won all five of their games during the month, including a pair of lopsided wins (18-3, 11-5) against NEW Lutheran last week. Game one was over in a hurry. The Vikings sent 13 batters to the plate in the third inning alone, putting up 11 runs to blow it open. Gabi Solomon's inside the park home run was the big blow, and Addison Richmond chipped in a two-run single during the surge. Both finished with three RBIs. Megan Gallant went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, and Emilie Glocke handled business in the circle with six strikeouts over three innings. Glocke came back for game two and tossed all seven innings in an 11-5 win. Olivia Pelkey was dialed in, going 4-for-4 with a double to pace the offense. Solomon stayed hot with two more hits, and Glocke added two hits and two RBIs of her own from the circle. Cleleste Ashley kept the pressure on with two stolen bases.
The Panthers are 3-15 this season and trying to break a five-game skid.
First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
