The Gibraltar/Washington Island baseball team hopes to secure its first doubleheader sweep since April 23rd when it travels to Green Bay to face NEW Lutheran.
The Vikings have split three of its last four conference doubleheaders with a sweep at the hands of first-place Kewaunee the outlier. Last Friday, the Vikings squeaked out a 4-3 win over Oconto in game one before stumbling in game two for a 14-4 loss.
Owen Dannhausen provided the spark in game one with a 2-4 day that featured two RBI while Aaron Brey held things down on the mound, going 6.2 innings allowing three runs (0 ER) on four hits while striking out eight. The Vikings were ambushed in game two, though Cam Munao, Brey, and Miles Richmond still had two-hit games.
The Blazers are 3-0 since being shut out by Algoma 7-0 in the front end of a doubleheader. They beat Southern Door 4-1 and 5-4 on U-102.1 last Friday.
First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
