An eight-run first inning left Gibraltar/Washington Island chasing their hosts the rest of an 11-1 rout by Kewaunee in the first game of a Tuesday evening doubleheader.
After Brett Paulsen quickly retired the Vikings in order during the top of the first inning, the Storm put four straight runners on base, highlighted by a two-run home run by Diesel Bosdeck to put them up 3-0.
The Storm would send nine more batters, with Micah Vanness and Paulsen also recording two RBI hits to increase the lead to 8-0 at the end of one inning.
Starting pitcher Aaron Brey would only last one more inning, allowing two more batters to reach via errors before retiring the side on his third strikeout. He helped his cause in the top of the third inning with an RBI groundout after Cam Munao singled and advanced to third on a Paulsen pickoff miscue.
The Storm got one run back on an error in the bottom of the third to make it 9-1 before wild pitches brought home two runs in the fifth inning to end the game early.
Munao led the Vikings, going 2-3, while Dannhausen's lead-off double in the second inning was the team's only other hit in the game.
