Gibraltar/Washington Island, Kewaunee battle on baseball diamond on NRSN

Gibraltar/Washington Island and Kewaunee will battle for the top of the Packerland Conference on Tuesday when the two teams meet for a doubleheader that will air on two different NEW Radio Sports Network stations.

 

The Vikings have split their last four matchups against Packerland Conference foes, including a 17-7 win and a 13-11 loss on Friday to Sturgeon Bay. In the first game, Cam Munao finished the day 5-5 with three RBI while Charlie Reinhardt (3 RBI), Luke Rericha (2 RBI) and Wyatt Bultman (2 RBI) with multi-RBI games. Aaron Brey earned the win as he allowed six runs (3 ER) on eight hits while striking out six. In the second game, Reinhardt struggled in the final inning of the darkness-shortened game, allowing five runs (5 ER) on seven hits. It spoiled another perfect game at the plate for Munao, who went 4-4 in the nightcap with 2 RBI. Rericha, Owen Dannhausen, and Mason Grooms all had two RBI in the loss.

 

 

The Storm remain perfect on the season at 13-0, including a two-game sweep of Southern Door last Friday. In game one, In the first game, Kewaunee combined for a no-hitter as Brett Paulsen and Jackson Walecka blanked Southern Door in a 10-0 win. Paulsen was dominant on the mound, striking out 16 over six hitless innings while giving up two walks. Walecka closed out the game with a scoreless seventh. Kewaunee carried that momentum into the second game, erupting for 10 runs in the second inning on the way to a 15-2 victory. Dane Harrell led the charge, driving in four runs on three hits, including a three-run home run.

 

Tim Kowols will have the call of game one of the doubleheader on 105.1 The GOAT beginning at 3:45 p.m. and the first pitch at 4 p.m. Eric Fischer will have the second half of the twinbill on 104.1 WRLU with the broadcast beginning at 5:30 p.m.
