Huge Third Inning Seals Victory for Gibraltar/Washington Island

The Gibraltar/Washington Island Vikings scored 10 runs in the third inning, which helped them defeat Southern Door Eagles 16-1 on Thursday. 

 

Hobbs Emerson drew a walk, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Miles Richmond doubled, scoring two runs, Mason Grooms singled, scoring one run, Cam Munao singled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, and Hobbs Emerson doubled, scoring two runs.

 

A ground out by Mac Hoffman put Southern Door on the board in the top of the first.

 

Gibraltar/Washington Island took the lead in the bottom of the first when Owen Dannhausen hit an inside the park home run, scoring two runs, to give the Vikings the edge, 2-1.

 

Aaron Brey earned the win. The hurler allowed two hits and one run over five innings, striking out nine and walking two.

 

Quintyn Schwartz took the loss. The starter went two and one-third innings, allowing eight runs (two earned) on six hits, striking out four and walking three.

 

The Vikings accumulated 13 hits in the game. Cam Munao set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading the team with three hits in four at bats. Hobbs Emerson and Cam Munao each drove in four runs. Wyatt Bultman and Mason Grooms each collected multiple hits for the Vikings and Cam Munao and Mason Grooms each stole multiple bases. The Vikings stole six bases in the game and didn't commit a single error. Luke Rericha made the most plays with nine.

 

Mac Hoffman led the team with one run batted in. Collin Everard and Caleb Guilette each collected one hit for Southern Door.
