Gibraltar and Algoma will crack open the Packerland Conference softball slate on Friday afternoon when they two teams face each other at Peterson Park.
The Vikings' season got off to a rocky start Match 27th and 28th in Wisconsin Dells with losses to Hurley, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah, and Cameron by a combined score of 60-4. Gabby Solomon and Isla Fagundes each have RBI on the season while Solomon and Mia Glocke each have two hits. Manager Brandon Schmidt praised his team in our pregame interview for hanging tough after the weekend's losses as they try to replace their catchers and middle infielders from last year.
After Mother Nature canceled their first game, the Wolves are using Friday's matchups against the Vikings as their opening day. Macie Zimmerman (1st Team Pitcher), Natalie Ray (1st Team Infielder), and Jadyn Nellis (2nd Team Infielder) are all expected to return from last year's squad that won the Packerland Conference with a 9-1 record and advanced to the WIAA Sectional before falling to eventual state champion Mishicot.
The two teams kick off their doubleheader at 4:30 p.m. Tim Kowols will have the action of the first game on 105.1 The GOAT beginning at 4:15 p.m. with the pregame show.
