Gibraltar boys continue their tournament run at Providence Academy on 105.1 The GOAT

The Gibraltar Vikings kept their season alive on Tuesday and will have another opportunity to do so again on Friday when they travel to Howard to battle Providence Academy.

The Vikings broke their five-game regular-season skid and three-game tournament losing streak in one swoop Tuesday night as they edged Suring 56-54 on the road in their WIAA Tournament opener. The Vikings and Eagles would exchange leads late, but a big bucket from Owen Dannhausen and timely free throws from Aaron Brey and Finn Bremer helped set up the dramatic ending that fell in favor of the Vikings for their first tournament win since they last played in Suring against Three Lakes in the 2023 sectional semifinal. Kayin Jackson led all scorers with 23 points for the Vikings while Brey added 17 points, Marco Jauregui eight points, and Bremer six points.

The Paladins advanced in their first WIAA Tournament with a 70-43 win over Lena to snap a four-game losing streak. Grayson Herlache led the way for the Paladins with 26 points while Isaiah Faulkner scored 15 points. Players from the Paladins previously competed alongside students at NEW Lutheran before separating this year.
