Gibraltar boys heads to Suring for tournament opener on 105.1 The GOAT

The Gibraltar Vikings boys basketball team hopes to shed a five game losing streak to advance in the WIAA Tournament when they play in Suring on Tuesday to face the Eagles.

 

The Vikings last won on February 12th in a nailbiter against Southern Door. In their last game, the Vikings trailed by just four points early in the second half before being outscored by 20 points the rest of the way in a 58-34 loss to Wabeno-Laona in Fish Creek on Saturday. Marco Jauregui paved the way for the Vikings with 20 points while Kayin Jackson added six points and Aaron Brey chipped in four points. The Vikings hope to have an injured Wyatt Bultman back for the tournament, who is third on the team in scoring (9.4 ppg) and leads the team in rebounding (3.9 rpg).

Led by Parker Haak (19.1 ppg and 11.9 rpg) and Karl Hischke (10.5 ppg and 10.3 rpg), the Eagles broke a four-game losing streak with a 70-51 win over Oneida Nation last Thursday. Splitting their six non-conference matchups, the Eagles took third in the Marinette & Oneida Conference with a 10-6 mark to finish the year 13-9.
