A comeback attempt by Gibraltar came up short Tuesday night, losing to Sturgeon Bay 48-43.
Ashton Benzinger, Vince Laughlin, and Jaxzen Bleck all scored six points in the first half to pace the Clippers to a 29-19 lead.
Wyatt Bultman helped engineer the comeback attempt for the Vikings by scoring the team's first eight points of the second half. The Vikings' full court press set up some easy buckets late with Marco Jauregui and Kayin Jackson making it a five point game with three minutes to play before the Clippers finished the game off to earn the win.
Head coach Travis Ward said after the game that it was hard to ask for more effort from the team on a night where thousands of dollars were raised to support Gibraltar alum Kathleen Jackson's fight against Lymphoma.
Bleck led the Clippers with 12 points, while Siggy Hansen added 10 points and Sam Fruzyna and Laughlin each chipped in eight points. Bultman paced the Vikings with 12 points while Jauregui added 11 points.
