Vikings boys return to floor against Tigers

The Gibraltar boys basketball team will look to string together wins Monday when it welcomes Gillett to Fish Creek.

Marco Jauregui and Kayin Jackson paced the offense for Gibraltar on Saturday in a 54-44 win over Oconto in Fish Creek. The Vikings jumped out to a fast start, outscoring the Blue Devils 31-23 in the first half.

Defense carried Gibraltar in the second half, allowing the offense to take a more patient approach. The Vikings knocked down 12 free throws after halftime to keep their distance from Oconto. Jauregui led the way with 18 points, while Jackson added 16.

The Tigers have dropped five straight, falling to 2-13 overall and 2-7 in conference play. Jed Herzog leads the team in scoring at 8.9 points per game, while Brandon Slatky is averaging 6.1 points and nearly 10 rebounds per contest.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
