Marco Jauregui and Kayin Jackson paced the offense for Gibraltar on Saturday as they beat Oconto 54-44 in Fish Creek.
The Vikings got out to a fast start, outscoring the Blue Devils 31-23 in the first half. The defense carried the torch for the Vikings in the second half, allowing for their offense to take a much more patient approach. The Vikings ended up knocking down 12 free throws in the second half to keep their distance from the Blue Devils.
"Wyatt Bultman and Owen Dannhausen were strong on the boards, and we got some big baskets from Fernando Jauregui as Oconto brought heavy pressure," said head coach Travis Ward. "I'm proud of how our boys were able to keep composed and close out the game, taking care of the ball and hitting our free throws."
Jauregui led the way with 18 points while Jackson added 16 points in the Vikings' win. Mason Colvin's 12 points led the Blue Devils after he scored over 30 in their previous matchup.
The Vikings are back in action on Monday against Gillett.
