N.E.W. Lutheran entered Tuesday's home matchup with Gibraltar winning their last six games, including four at home. Meanwhile, the Vikings were 1-5 in their last six and winless on the road.
The Vikings didn't let any of that carry weight going into Green Bay and pulled off a huge, unexpected win. The last time the two teams played it was close, a 58-52 loss for Gibraltar.
Looking to rebound from that loss, Gibraltar got to the free throw line, converted, and made the most of their possession inside the paint. The Vikings pull off a big upset downing the Blazers 64-55 in their gym.
"It wasn't always pretty, but we played well enough on both ends of the court to win tonight," said head coach Travis Ward after the game. Ward was highly complimentary of Wyatt Bultman, who led the Vikings with 21 points. "Wyatt Bultman was big for us scoring inside and cleaning the glass. The Blazer press gave us some problems down the stretch but we were able to get a few easy baskets and we hit our freethrows to close it out."
Kayin Jackson added 14 points and Marco Jauregui added eight points in the win. Hayden Schultz paced the Blazers with 21 points
Gibraltar hosts Hilbert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
