The Gibraltar Vikings girls basketball team had to play the final 8:39 of its game against NEW Lutheran a player down in its 46-22 loss in Fish Creek Thursday.
Playing down a person already on their roster, the Vikings had one player go down with an injury and another leave early due to sickness en route to the lopsided loss. The two teams traded buckets early, but a 14-5 run midway through the first half spelled doom for the Vikings as they entered the locker room with a 22-12 deficit. Things did not get better for the Vikings in the second half as they ended the game with just four players on the court.
Megan Gallant led the Vikings with six points while Gabriella Solomon added five points, and Emilie Glocke, Megan Schar, and Celeste Jauregui each chipped in three points. The Blazers had two players score 13 points in the win.
The Vikings will try to get healthy before hosting Gillett on Saturday before playing at Oconto on Monday. Tim Kowols will have the call of Monday's game from Oconto on 105.1 The GOAT beginning at 6:45 p.m. with the pregame show followed by the tip at 7 p.m.
