Slow second half start dooms Vikings boys against Blue Devils on 105.1 The GOAT

The Oconto Blue Devils quickly turned a 40-34 advantage at the break into a 20-plus point lead en route to an 85-68 victory over the Gibraltar Vikings Tuesday night.

The hot shooting of Mason Colvin gave the Blue Devils the early double-digit lead thanks to four of the team's six three-pointers in the first half. Marco Jauregui and Kayin Jackson were able to answer the challenge, however, leading the Vikings on a 7-0 run that gave the Vikings a slim 28-26 lead halfway through the first half.

The Blue Devils took control of the game from there, scoring 32 of the contest's 44 points to build their lead back to over 20 points. The Vikings were able to trim the lead to 10 points behind two more threes from Jauregui and an offensive outburst from Wyatt Bultman that saw him score 11 of his 16 points in the second half. The Blue Devils' depth ended up being too much in the end, extending the lead back out to nearly 20 points and forcing both teams to empty the bench late.

The Blue Devils' were led by Colvin's 36 points with eight three-pointers made in the game. Dalton Bastien scored 15 points off the bench and Davis Knowll chipped in 10 points. Jauregui ended his night with 25 points for the vikings with Jackson adding another 15 points to go along with Bultman's 16 points.

The Vikings will play two more games this week, facing undefeated Peshtigo at home on Friday before traveling to Florence to face the Bobcats on Saturday.
