The NEW Lutheran boys basketball team was able to make shots late against Gibraltar to leave Fish Creek Thursday night with a 58-52 win.
The Vikings went into halftime with a slim 27-26 point lead thanks to 11 first-half points from Marco Jauregui, including a pair of threes. The Blazers' Hayden Schultz ensured a happy ride back to Green Bay for his team thanks to three three-pointers en route to 15 second-half points and a game-high 25 points. Three other players scored at least seven points for the Blazers in the win. Jauregui ended his night with 18 points while Kayin Jackson scored 10 points and Aaron Brey and Wyatt Bultman each chipped in eight points in the Vikings' loss.
Head coach Travis Ward credited the Blazers with hitting big shots late while his team could not cash in on their opportunities. He added that his Vikings played with good energy and he is confident that they will learn from their mistakes as they look forward to next week.
