The Gibraltar Vikings girls basketball team make the trip south on Tuesday to face NEW Lutheran on the east side of Green Bay.
The Vikings tuned up for the matchup with a scrimmage against Washington Island after opening the season 1-2. The team has enjoyed balanced scoring during the opening stretch with five players scoring between five and seven points per game. While the team features great senior leadership from the likes of Josie Martin, Megan Gallant, Emilie Glocke, and Celeste Ashley, head coach Justin Burress is highly complimentary of his underclassmen like freshmen Azucena Jauregui and Ashlyn Lautenbach. The duo are ranked third and fourth on the team respectively on the team and handling the rigors of varsity basketball in stride according to Burress. In their last matchup, Gallant had nine points and Glocke chipped in eight points in a 72-45 loss to Suring.

The Blazers are 0-2 to start the season as they look to rebuild after its split with Providence Academy, which plays its first ever varsity game on Tuesday against Reedsville. With no seniors and just three juniors on the squad, the Blazers return less than six points per game from their team a season ago. Meredith Lemke-Scott has the highest scoring average from a season ago at 4.0 ppg with Addison Bruley (1.4 ppg) the only other returning scorer.
Tim Kowols will have the call on 105.1 The GOAT beginning at 5:45 p.m. followed by the tip-off at 6 p.m.
