After a promising first quarter, Gibraltar lost its offensive momentum as injuries piled up en route to a 38-12 loss on the road to Suring on Friday night.
The Vikings struck first after recovering an onside kick to start the game, thanks to Sean Neal finding a seam and galloping in from 20+ yards out to make it 6-0. The Eagles responded on the very next drive when Grant Thomson scored the first of his two touchdowns and punched in the two-point conversion. The Vikings responded a few plays later when Neal turned the corner and found daylight from nearly 60 yards to help the Vikings retake the lead. They would never have the lead again as Taylor Booth-Stoffregen and Kroix Kempka scored 85-yard and 29-yard rushing touchdowns, respectively, to put the Eagles up 24-12.
The Vikings' sideline became a MASH unit in the second half as Neal and Parker Gallant made several visits to the trainer before eventually being ruled out for the majority of the third and fourth quarters. While the offense struggled to find its footing, the defense also had to adjust with other players missing on that side of the ball. The Eagles never skipped a beat, thanks to Thomson and Kempka each finding the endzone for a second time to put the game away.
The Vikings will play their final home game of the season next Friday night when they welcome state-ranked Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas to Fish Creek for Senior Night. Tim Kowols will have the call on 105.1 The GOAT and online at 1051TheGOAT.com and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com.
In other Eight-Player Football, Algoma forced an early exit from its game against Gillett, winning the game 74-12 with just under nine minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
