Vikings baseball doubles up Indians ahead of island trip

A four-run fourth inning proved to be the difference as Gibraltar/Washington Island baseball returned to the win column with an 8-4 win over Mishicot on Friday.

After the two teams traded runs in the first inning, the Vikings scored twice in the third inning when Brady Kita scored on a wild pitch and Cam Munao scored on a wild pitch. The Vikings' biggest offensive inning came because of a bases-clearing double by Luke Rericha and a RBI single by Hobbs Emerson. The Vikings added one more insurance before the Indians rallied for three runs in the seventh inning. Kita, Munao, and Emerson each had two hits while Rericha led the way with three RBI. On the mound, Kita went the distances, allowing four runs (3 ER) on nine hits while striking out six.

The Vikings are back in action on Saturday when they hop on the Washington Island Ferry and play Clintonville at Washington Island Ballpark. First pitch is set for 11 a.m.
