Gibraltar splits in Crivitz on 105.1 The GOAT

It was tale of two games for Gibraltar/Washington Island on Saturday as they beat the host Wolverines 15-3 in five innings while falling to Wrightstown 10-2.

In game one, Bennett Isaacson-Krueger continued his strong pitching from his relief appearance on Friday, going four innings of scoreless baseball while striking out seven and scattering two hits. The Vikings were held in check for the first two innings before scoring three runs in the third inning, thanks in part to a two-run triple by Brady Kita.

In the fourth inning, the Vikings had 12 players go to the plate and seven runs come in thanks in part to RBI hits from Jaxin Lindgren, Luke Rericha, Hobbs Emerson, Kita, and Aaron Brey. The Vikings finished the scoring off in the fifth with five more runs with Kita and Brey tacking on more RBI. Kita ended the day with four RBI, Brey with three, and Cam Munao with two.

In game two, Brady Kita and Jacob Miller were tied up in their own duel with the Tigers scoring first on a Aidan Humphreys RBI single before the Vikings scored twice on a passed ball and a bases-loaded walk drawn by Jaxin Lindgren.

Things went south from there for the Vikings as the Tigers took the lead in the fourth inning when Will Schoenwalder and Ryan Leahy hit back-to-back extra base knocks to make it 3-2. The Vikings' bullpen and defense struggled in the back half of the game, allowing seven runs (5 ER) and walking six while weathering three errors. The Vikings posted one last threat in the sixth inning when they put two players on with no outs, but they could not convert the opportunity into runs. Munao had two hits in the second game while Lindgren registered the lone RBI.
