Vikings softball falls short against Wolves

The Gibraltar/Washington Island softball team came up just short of its first victory of the season on Thursday, losing to Hilbert 6-4 in Fish Creek.

The Vikings found themselves chasing the Wolves from the second inning on after they collected two run-scoring hits in the frame and cashed in on another opportunity in third to make it 3-0. The Vikings would claw back in their half of the third inning with Pam Prescott singling in Megan Gallant and Courtney Foy getting on base thanks to an error to make it 3-2. After the Wolves scored once in the fourth inning and twice in the second inning, the Vikings would find the scoreboard once again thanks to runs scored by Celeste Ashley and Prescott. The Vikings would get only one baserunner the rest of the game to sink to 0-6 on the season.

Prescott and Ashley each had two hits in the game. Emilie Glocke took the loss from the circle, allowing six runs (5 ER) on seven hits while striking out five.
