The Gibraltar Vikings softball team finished its weekend tournament 0-3 after losing 20-5 to Lake Mills and Black River Falls 21-20.
In their first game, the Vikings committed seven errors and allowed 10 hits and seven walks in the rout. After giving up five runs in the first inning, the Vikings responded with five of their own thanks to two bases-loaded walks and a bases-clearing triple roped by Courtney Foy. It was all for naught however as the Vikings allowed 10 runs in the bottom half of the inning and another five runs in the third to end the game early. Megan Gallant and Abby Jarosh also collected hits in the game.
In the second game, the Vikings showed resilience after falling behind 13-5 after two innings to tie the game with eight runs in the third inning. In that inning, the Vikings took advantage of three bases-loaded walks, a run scoring single by Addison Richmond, and bases clearing triple by Megan Gallant. The two teams would trade runs the rest of the way and exchange five run innings in the seventh. However, it was the final run scored by the Tigers that walked off the Vikings to their third straight loss. Pam Prescott, Isla Fagundes, Gallant, and Richmond all had multi hit games. Foy led the Vikings with four RBI, followed by three by Richmond and Gallant and two from Fagundes. Defense betrayed the Vikings again as they committed seven errors. That helped Glocke's ERA stay intact as she allowed 21 runs, but only four were earned.
