The Gibraltar Vikings girls basketball team will get a second crack at Sevastopol on Tuesday night in Fish Creek.
In their first matchup on December 17th, the Pioneers took a 15-0 lead and never looked back, beating Gibraltar 78-28. The Pioneers were led by Kayla Ranly's 16 points, with Naomi Rikkola chipping in 15 points and Ella Volkmann adding 12 points. Despite being held in check for much of the first half, Mikala Gorham was able to register a team-high 10 points, with Celeste Jauregui scoring eight points and Megan Schar adding three points.
In the weeks since the Pioneers have nine of their 10 games, with a loss against Kewaunee, their lone blemish. Rikkola and Ranly control the strings offensively, averaging 17.7 and 16.9 points, respectively. Meanwhile, the Vikings posted only one win during that stretch, coming against Goodman/Pembine on January 9th. Still adjusting to losing Andie Schar for the season with a knee injury, Goham and Schar pace the Vikings with 13.3 and 7.6 ppg, respectively.
Tim Kowols will have the call on 105.1 the GOAT beginning at 5:45 p.m. with the pregame show followed by the opening tip at 6 p.m. The game will also be streamed to the world on 1051TheGOAT.com and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com.
