Gibraltar, Sevastopol renew girls basketball rivalry on 105.1 The GOAT

Two Door County rivals will meet for the first time this season in girls basketball on Tuesday when Gibraltar travels south to face Sevastopol.

Both teams started their weekend on a sour note with non-conference losses. In their 73-60 loss to Manitowoc Lutheran, the Pioneers' Kayla Ranly did her part to keep the Pioneers in the game, drilling two three-pointers in the first half and three more after the break to lead the Pioneers with 22 points. Naomi Rikkola made up for a relatively quiet first half to score 14 of her 20 in the second half.  The Vikings did not fair any better, losing to 61-29 to Wabeno-Laona. Celeste Jauregui scored the first and only basket from the field with 6:46 remaining in the first half. Josie Martin and Anna Jarosh did the rest of the work from the free-throw line as the Rebels built a 36-6 lead at halftime. The two teams played closer in the second half, with the Rebels outscoring the Vikings 25-23 after the break.

Tim Kowols and Jacob Nate will have the call from the Institute on Tuesday, beginning with the pregame show at 6:15 p.m., followed by the tip at 6:30 p.m.
