The Gibraltar Vikings came up just short in its season opener on Tuesday, losing to the Pembine Patriots 42-41.

John Knutson and Chase Kozelek each scored 12 points in the win for the Patriots, which were able to hold onto a 26-25 halftime lead for the win. Kayin Jackson had one of his biggest days for the Vikings, scoring 21 points on the night. Braden Kita added 11 points and Wyatt Bultman chipped in six points in the loss.

The Vikings will open Packerland play on Thursday against Kewaunee. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
