Gibraltar/Sevastopol United boys varsity soccer needed only 60 minutes to shut out Packerland Conference opponents, the Kewaunee Storm, 8-0 Thursday evening on home turf in Fish Creek, as Gibraltar High School celebrates Homecoming week. The victory puts United at 5-2 for the season (plus 2-1 in tournament play).
Senior striker Trey Perlman got the scoring started for United (14’) with an assist from junior Brandon Mayorga. Mayorga was next to find the back of the net (20’) with an assist from senior Cristino Valdivia. Junior Damien Lardinois closed the first half with his goal in the 39th minute.
Perlman got two quick goals to open the second half (41’ and 44’) and tally the hat trick. Junior Mauricio Fernandez assisted with both goals. Brandon Mayorga netted his second of the night (49’) shortly after.
United scored two more goals in quick succession to secure the victory and end the contest, by junior Aaron Tomaszewski (59’) and senior Canyon Burgard (60’). Tomaszewski and junior Juan Gallardo-Ibarra split the game in net to get the clean sheet.
United travels to Wrightstown on Saturday, September 21, for tournament play in a field that includes Altoona, Howards Grove, Kewaunee, Marinette, New Holstein, and Random Lake/Ozaukee. The next regular-season match for United is Thursday, September 26, at Providence Academy.
