The Gibraltar/Sevastopol United varsity boys returned to winning ways Monday night, defeating the visiting Algoma Wolves in Fish Creek by a final score of 4-0. United dominated play throughout the match, keeping the ball on the Algoma side of the field and allowing the Wolves very few scoring opportunities.
Goal scoring for United started with a beautiful header by junior Mauricio Fernandez off a cross from junior Christian Ruiz (10'). Junior Brandon Mayorga scored from the top of the box in the twenty-fifth minute. Senior Trey Perlman ended the first half with a goal in minute 39. Senior Thomas Seabright got the final United goal at minute 68. Junior goalie Aaron Tomaszewski recorded the clean sheet with only a handful of saves.
The Packerland Conference win over Algoma comes after a two-win, one loss-outing for the United at the Winneconne tournament over the past weekend.
The busy week for United continues Tuesday night with an away match at Ashwaubenon at 7pm, followed by another travel day to battle conference foes Peshtigo on Thursday, September 12 at 4:30pm. The United JV squad will face Sturgeon Bay away on Thursday as well.
