United soccer knock out Paladins

The Gibraltar/Sevastopol United boys varsity soccer team continued their winning ways in a home contest on Thursday, August 29, defeating the Providence Academy Paladins 5-1 in Fish Creek.

 

Senior Christino Valdivia started the scoring with a header goal in the third minute of play. Senior Trey Perlman scored on a penalty kick in the twelfth minute. Junior Damien Lardinois scored the third goal of the first half in minute 25. 

 

Providence got some life early in the second half with a goal by freshman Andrew Rentmeester (43'). United came back to notch goals from juniors Brandon Mayorga (57') and Christian Ruiz (60'). 

 

Up next for the 2-0 United following the Labor Day holiday weekend and the start of the school year is an early-season away contest against Packerland Conference arch-rival Sturgeon Bay Clippers on Thursday, September 5 at 6:30pm, followed by tournament play in Winneconne on Saturday, September 7.
