Vikings girls set for rematch against Badgers on 105.1 The GOAT

The Gibraltar Vikings will have an opportunity to avenge last year's exit in the WIAAs when they travel to Niagara for the second consecutive season.

The tenth-seeded Vikings won their tenth game of the season on Saturday with a 67-27 victory over Stockbridge. It marked their second win in three tries and it is more wins than the program has had over the last three seasons combined. Andie Schar and Mikala Gorham have been a potent one-two punch for the Vikings, leading the team in scoring and rebounding. Head coach Evan DeBroux is confident that his team is ready to shine come tournament time.

The Badgers come into the game dramatically different than the team that beat the Vikings 48-32 in Niagara in last year's WIAA Tournament opener. Only five team members that made the regional final are back, accounting for only five of the 48 points against the Vikings. All five of those points belonged to Mallory Sanicki, who leads the Badgers this year in scoring with 12.8 ppg and rebounding at 9.2 rpg. The Badgers went from 21-6 last year to 11-13 this year and have lost four straight games.

Tim Kowols will make the trip for 105.1 The GOAT and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com, with the pregame show airing at 6:45 p.m. followed by the opening tip at 7 p.m.
