Gibraltar's Sitte prepared for life after basketball

Time has flown by for Gibraltar junior varsity basketball coach Kent Sitte.

For the last 30 years, Sitte has been a near-constant site on the Vikings' sidelines, coaching hundreds of student-athletes at both the varsity and the junior varsity levels. In between stints coaching the varsity team, he would take a back seat to coach junior varsity when there was a staff member who wanted to take the reins of the programs, citing his own time constraints and the importance of having a voice for the program inside the walls of Gibraltar. He also took time off from coaching to start a family with his wife, Heidi, raising Abbi and Braden to be All-Packerland Conference performers during their respective basketball careers. Sitte cited some wins over bigger programs as being some of his favorite highlights but added that experiencing the program's recent run of success with his son on the roster has been remarkable.

Head Coach Travis Ward says Sitte has always been a great asset to the program, especially for the young coaches like himself who have taken over things over the years.

Sitte jokes that he may have to find a few new hobbies to fill the time when he is done coaching basketball, though he is looking forward to visiting his kids at their respective colleges, among other trips. Sitte will be honored during a special ceremony at Friday's Sturgeon Bay game that will be covered on 105.1 The GOAT.
