Gibraltar, Algoma battle after bracket announcement on 105.1 The GOAT Monday

The Gibraltar Vikings and the Algoma Wolves still have work to do before focusing on the WIAA postseason, including their game on Monday in Fish Creek.

Sunday's bracket announcement has both teams playing on February 20th, with #6 Algoma hosting Roncalli in Division 4 and #10 Gibraltar traveling to Niagara in Division 5.

The Vikings were scheduled to play Elcho on Saturday, but their hosts were forced to forfeit for the fifth time this season. The last game the Vikings played was on Friday, a nailbiting 44-42 win over Sturgeon Bay on the road. McKailey Reisen helped lead the comeback with seven of her team-high 10 points after the break. Balanced scoring made it challenging for the Clippers as Mikala Gorham and Andie Schar each scored nine points, and Pam Prescott chipped in eight points in the victory. Head coach Evan DeBroux is looking forward to the stretch run, which also includes a game against Stockbridge later this week.

The Wolves' last game was also against the Clippers, coming away with a convincing 42-21 win over the Sturgeon Bay Clippers at home. The Algoma girls were led by Ryley Zimmerman, who scored 14 points, and Jadyn Nellis added eight more points as the Wolves protected their home court. Wolves head coach Mark Zastrow knows the bigger prize begins next week, but said he would treat their final games against Gibraltar and Kewaunee like they are conference championship games

Tim Kowols will have the call on 105.1 The GOAT and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com beginning at 7:15 p.m. with the pregame show followed by the opening tip at 7:30 p.m.
