Gibraltar boys tangle with Peshtigo on 105.1 The GOAT Monday

The Gibraltar Vikings will try to break an eight-game losing streak on the road Monday night when they head around the bay to face Peshtigo.

The Vikings could not make its six-point halftime last the distance as they fell to Oconto 67-60 in Fish Creek Friday night. The Vikings would hang around, closing the gap several times and exchanging ties and leads with the Vikings until late in the second half. A big reason why was Liam Lindenberg, who hit three three-pointers in the frame to end the night with 16 points. His ability to hit the three opened things up for Braden Sitte and Marshall Maltby, who ended their nights with 16 and 12 points, respectively, most of which came in the second half. After the game, head coach Travis Ward said he and his team do not talk much about winning and losing during the regular season, rather focusing on the postseason in a few weeks. Still, he says a win would have been good for morale.

The Bulldogs are on a two-game winning streak, evening their overall record to 9-9 after a slim 45-42 victory over Algoma on Friday. The Wolves outscored the Bulldogs 28-16 in the first half and had the favor returned to them when they were outscored 29-14 after the break. Will McMahon (20 points) and Dominik Baxter (14 points) sparked the comeback as they combined to score 23 points in the second half for the Bulldogs.

In their previous matchup on December 14th, the Vikings made a comeback in the second half but came up short in a 61-56 loss to the Bulldogs. McMahon and Baxter scored 23 and 22 points for the Bulldogs in the win. That game marked Lindenberg's arrival as a varsity stalwart, complementing Sitte's 20 points with 18 points as he went 6-8 from behind the arc.

Tim Kowols and Matt Malvitz have the call on 105.1 The GOAT beginning at 7:15 p.m. with the pregame show followed by the opening tip at 7:30 p.m. The game will also be streamed at NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com.
