Vikings boys can't catch Raiders on 105.1 The GOAT

The Gibraltar Vikings could not come up with the big runs they needed to win their non-conference matchup on Tuesday night, falling to Two Rivers 59-44 on the road.

The Raiders' defense frustrated the Vikings as their off-the-ball style man-on-man defense clogged up the key, and their zone made passing lanes a challenge all night long. Using their big man Ashton Peterson as a catalyst, the Raiders built a double-digit lead midway through the first half after holding the Vikings scoreless for the opening few minutes of the frame. The Vikings were able to get to within two possessions late in the the half as Braden Sitte and Jeffrey Mize were able to get behind the Raiders' defense for easy buckets. One of those buckets came off a steal by Sitte that ended in a two-handed slam. Peterson's ten first-half points helped give the Raiders a 23-17 lead at the break.

The Raiders started the second half just as fast as the first half, but only used their guards rather than rely on Peterson's size. Carson Kadow and Eli Gallagher each scored 11 points after the break to pace the Raiders' attack and withstood any challenges the Vikings had to offer. Marshall Maltby did his best to keep it close in the second half, scoring all nine of his points after the break. Sitte led all Vikings players with 15 points, while Liam Lindenberg joined Maltby with a nine-point evening thanks to a trio of three-pointers. Kadow led all scorers with 18 points, while Gallagher had 15 points and Peterson had 13 points in the Raiders' victory.

Gibraltar's next game will be on Friday against Southern Door in Fish Creek. Jacob Nate and Reece Robillard will have the call on U-102.1 and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com, with the pregame show slated to begin at 7:15 p.m., followed by the scheduled tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
