Vikings girls face Resorters after falling to Pioneers on 105.1 The GOAT

The Gibraltar Vikings girls' basketball team will not have to wait long for its next contest after losing to Sevastopol 66-22 in Fish Creek on Friday night.

Coupled with holding the Vikings scoreless for the first six minutes of the game, the Pioneers were able to jump out to a 21-0 advantage and a 47-10 halftime lead thanks to seven made three-pointers. Kayla Ranly and Libby Ash got out to fast starts as they hit the majority of their points in the first half to dig the Vikings deep in a hole. Andie Schar scored six points late in the half to narrow the gap to 37 before the break.

With a running clock and both teams emptying their bench for much of the second half, they played much closer after the break. Ranly ended her night with a game-high 20 points, while Ash added 19 and Naomi Rikkola contributed 14 points. Andie Schar led the way for the Vikings with 13 points while four other players chipped in with two points.

The Vikings return to their home gym for a Saturday matinee to face Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah. Head coach Evan DeBroux anointed the Resorters' Coryn Fromm as the best player they will see this season. Fromm is averaging over 26.5 points per game to lead her team while also pacing her team in assists per game and coming in second in rebounds. The Resorters have split their last four games after winning their first two. They most recently beat Hilbert earlier this week 48-23. Tip-off is set for 12:30 p.m.
