Gibraltar boys fall short against Peshtigo

The Gibraltar Vikings could not complete their comeback on Thursday night, losing to Peshtigo 61-56.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 33-25 lead in the first half thanks to the start of big nights by Will McMahon and Dominik Baxter. The Vikings' defense would pull the reins on the pair in the second half, allowing them to claw back into the game and outscore the Bulldogs in the second half. Head coach Travis Ward highlighted the play of Liam Lindenberg as a nice sign for the future as he hit four three-pointers in the second half to spur the run alongside Braden Sitte. The Vikings had chances to tie the game late, but the Bulldogs were able to clamp down to prevent Gibraltar from completing their comeback.

McMahon led all scorers with 23 points, and Baxter added 22 points for the Bulldogs in their victory. Sitte led the Vikings with 20 points, while Lindenberg's six threes gave him 18 points in a supporting role.

The Vikings will face Sevastopol in their next game on Tuesday in Institute. That game will be broadcast live on 105.1 The GOAT and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com.
