Vikings girls battle Blue Devils at home

The Gibraltar girls' basketball team looks to return to the win column on Thursday when they play Oconto at home.

The Vikings were denied their second straight win and a winning record for the first time in several seasons when they were nipped by Crivitz earlier this week 55-52. The combination of Andie Schar and Mikala Gorham was even more of a pest to the Wolverines, combining to score 23 points to put the Vikings ahead 35-26 at the break. The Wolverines clamped down on the Vikings in the second half, allowing just 19 points after the break and drawing plenty of opportunities to get to the line. They shot 21 free throws in the frame, accounting for 12 points to lead the Wolverines to the three-point win.  Schar registered a game-high 18 points for the Vikings. Gorham collected 11 points, while McKailey Reisen and Pam Prescott each scored six points in the loss.

The Blue Devils are 3-1 on the season after beating Algoma 45-32 last Friday. The Blue Devils received help from almost everyone to sneak past the Wolves, with four players scoring at least five points. Natalie Schuleter (10 pts) joined Addisyn Viestenz (13 pts) in double figures.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
